The Greek Police stated that it received a call on 23:57:42, 17 September 2013, that a group of 50 people had assembled armed with bats, in the confluence of the Ifigenias and L. Panagi Tsaldari streets in Keratsini and were heading towards a shop-cafe with the name “Coral”. On 23:59:19, a Dias team of 8 was instructed to enter the area.
The police officers reached the Coral cafe, where 30 people were assembled outside, a number of which started to run towards the Panagi Tsaldari street, where another 60 people had assembled. There the police officers found Pavlos Fyssas hurt from stab wounds,and while he still had his consciousness he indicated George Roupakia as the offender of the attack, who was then arrested.
Pavlos Fyssas was transported to the General Hospital of Nikea, where his death was confirmed.

Roupakias contacted the general secretary of Golden Dawn Nikolaos Michaloliakos as well as George Patelli, the leader of the local branch of Golden Dawn in Nikea, who then in turn came in contact with the Golden Dawn MP Giannis Lagos. Roupakias worked in the cafeteria of the offices of the political party Golden Dawn.
